Fannie in the Kitchen: The Whole Story from Soup to Nuts of How Fannie Farmer Invented Recipes with Precise Measurements by Deborah Hopinson, illustrated by Nancy Carpenter (Atheneum Books for Young Readers, 2001)

A fictionalized account of what life might have been like living with Fannie Farmer. Told through Marcia’s point of view, she soon discovers being replaced as mother’s helper isn’t such a bad thing especially because Fannie Farmer’s recipes make blueberry pies taste “sweeter than a summer sky.” It’s not long before Marcia becomes Fannie’s biggest fan.

Fannie Farmer was considered the pioneer of the modern recipe. In 1896,  cook book Boston Cooking-School Cook Book was one of the first cook books ever published.
