Kudos to Cynthia Leitich Smith and Kathi Appelt

April 11th at 1:00pm, you’ll find me at Austin’s Book People supporting two local faves. The fantabulous Cynthia Leitich Smith will be signing her latest novel, Eternal (Candlewick, 2009). A follow up to Cynthia’s Tantalize, Eternal promises to be equally compelling. Even the first line of the summary will grab you by the shirt collar and beg you to read on. “At last, Miranda is the life of the party: all she had to do was die.”

Fellow Texan Kathi Appelt will also be signing her new release, The Underneath (Atheneum, 2008) which has been named a National Book Award finalist and newly crowned ALA Newbery Honor Book. Short summary: A calico cat, about to have kittens, hears the lonely howl of a chained-up hound deep in the backwaters of the bayou. She dares to find him in the forest, and the hound dares to befriend this cat, this feline, this creature he is supposed to hate. They are an unlikely pair, about to become an unlikely family.

Congratulations Cynthia and Kathi!!!!!!
